- The three-time world BMX champion Shanaze Reade has given her support to the charity Sported by helping to launch the Sported Academy, which will provide young people with skills for the workplace and enable them to become role models in disadvantaged communities. "Sported is providing a voice for young people who have been able to transform their lives through sport, and I'm pleased that I can use my profile to help further this cause," Reade said.

- The former Arsenal and England footballer Martin Keown opened a new Save the Children football pitch for Syrian children in the Za'atari refugee camp in Jordan as part of the club's partnership with the charity. Keown heard stories from children who have been affected by the conflict in Syria and met Save the Children representatives to learn more about their work.

- The comedian Victoria Wood has given her backing to Marie Curie Cancer Care's Blooming Great Tea Party campaign, which asks people to hold tea parties in June or July to raise funds for the charity. Wood has voiced the charity's radio campaign to promote the initiative.

Kelly Macdonald- The actor Kelly Macdonald (right) helped to relaunch the Yorkhill Children's Charity, which has changed its name from the Yorkhill Children's Foundation. The charity, based at the Yorkhill Hospital in Glasgow, funds initiatives that can save or improve the lives of sick children.

- The presenter and DJ Chris Tarrant has donated his collection of CDs and records to be auctioned to raise funds for Princess Alice Hospice in Surrey. They will be sold by Wellers Auctioneers in Guildford. "The items should help to raise a lot of money for a worthy cause," said Tarrant. "And I'll finally be able to get my car in the garage."
