Sir Richard Lambert, the former editor of the Financial Times and director general of the Confederation of British Industry, has been appointed as the chair of the Big Society Trust.
The trust is an oversight organisation that will monitor Big Society Capital, the £600m provider of wholesale social finance that is due to commence it activities next year.
Lambert was appointed to the board of the trust in July this year, along with other figures from the third sector, government and industry.
"Big Society Capital has the capacity to make a real difference and I am very pleased to be in at the beginning," he said.
