Development

Centrepoint tasked Specialmoves with creating a responsive website to increase awareness of its nine national Sleep Out events taking place this month. The site also had to encourage registrations for the events. Some 2,000 people are taking up the challenge on 7 November this year to raise money for the charity.

Design and content

The website was required to give potential participants an insight into sleeping on a bed of cardboard on a cold November night. The site needed to highlight the enjoyment and satisfaction that taking part in the Sleep Out event can bring.

The site had to showcase the heritage of Sleep Out, while helping the sleepers to make the decision to sign up and take part.

The design is quite muted and is a subtle evolution of the colourful letterpress typography that made up previous Sleep Out communications.

The website is quick to load and easy to navigate. Plenty of imagery adds a human touch to the site.

A dedicated section also includes stories and video clips from young people who have been helped by the charity in the past.

Special features

The site is designed to look good and to function across all browsers, ranging from desktops to mobile phones.

Centrepoint says:

The new Sleep Out website is both beautiful and functional, and provides an easy way for the public to get involved with Sleep Out 2013. We could not be more pleased with the outcome. Gemma Quainton

Charity property: could you be entitled to a huge VAT saving?

Partner Content: Presented By Markel

When a property is being constructed, VAT is charged at the standard rate. But if you're a charity, health body, educational institution, housing association or finance house, the work may well fall into a category that justifies zero-rating - and you could make a massive saving
