About 60 charities have benefited from a scheme that matches volunteer communications professionals to not-for-profit organisations needing PR support during the coronavirus pandemic.
The Community PR Initiative provides a match-making service between PR professionals who might have been furloughed or face a lack of freelance opportunities, and NHS trusts and charities.
The scheme has matched 100 volunteer comms professionals to charities and NHS teams, including Toynbee Hall, the cancer awareness charity Coppafeel!, the support charity 52 Lives and the baby loss counselling charity Petals. And organisers are inviting more charities to apply to take part.
The initiative, set up by Roxhill Media with the PR consultant Aceil Haddad, is looking for more applications from NHS teams and not-for-profit organisations, and from comms professionals who wish to help them, including organisations and volunteers based in the US.
Nick Payne, co-founder of the CPRI and vice president, sales at Roxhill Media, said: “It’s great that the initiative is providing support to 60 communications teams, but there’s so much more we can do. We’re calling out to all NHS trusts and charities that desperately need support: get in touch; we’re here to help.”
