SNAPSHOT: A bridge not too far

Actresses Linda Robson of Birds of a Feather fame and Samantha Robson, formerly of The Bill, joined 2,500 walkers making their way across eight London bridges to raise money for the Children's Society, which works with disadvantaged young people in the UK. The event is now in its fifth year and this was easily the most successful. It raised £100,000, an increase of £40,000 on the previous year, thanks to the support of celebrities and also to a media partnership with South London Press that generated weekly newspaper coverage in the build-up. The walk was split into two routes: a five-mile stroll and a more challenging 10-mile hike.
