SNAPSHOT: First ladies

Film star Honor Blackman has been entered into Help the Aged's Hall of Fame. Blackman, who was presented with the award by Cherie Booth, was nominated by charities for "being an inspiration by contributing to society through voluntary work". Previous winners of the Hall of Fame award include Dame Vera Lynn, Barbara Windsor and Sir Norman Wisdom. Celebrities including Claire Rayner, Jane McDonald and Liz Smith helped present awards in categories including a Youth Award and Charitable Hero Award, sponsored by Barclays Bank. A Sport Award was presented to Helen Tew who, aged 90, was the oldest yachts-woman to sail across the Atlantic and back in 2001.
