SNAPSHOT: Royal endorsement

The Prince of Wales joined representatives from the Iranian Red Crescent and the British Red Cross at a briefing to supporters and donors on how the Red Cross managed relief efforts in Bam following December's earthquake. Prince Charles, president of the British Red Cross, praised the efforts of the Iranian Red Crescent, who arrived on the scene hours after the earthquake hit. He also encouraged the British public to continue supporting the British Red Cross, which offered logistical support to its colleagues in Iran by providing medical provisions and temporary accommodation to survivors. British Red Cross chief executive Sir Nicholas Young asked donors to help the charity rebuild its disaster fund so it can respond to large-scale disasters immediately without having to wait for donations from public appeals.
