SNAPSHOT: Slice of hope

TV presenter Melinda Messenger helped BAAF Adoption & Fostering launch a nationwide campaign to recruit adoptive parents for the 5,000 children currently waiting for new families. She joined school children at Tower Bridge Primary School in London at the start of National Adoption Week to cut a special "Happy Adoption Day" cake. The week, which ran from 14-20 October, aimed to encourage more people to come forward and help adopt children. It included a series of events and communications programmes throughout the UK designed to help couples find out more about the adoption process. The charity also unveiled a web site,, which includes information on how supporters can help raise awareness of the issue.
