An auction of works of art inspired by David Beckham last week raised £152,000 for the National Deaf Children's Society. Pictured is the charity's chief executive, Susan Daniels, admiring David Mach's postcard collage 'Posh and Becks'. The auction at Christie's included pieces from British artists Tracey Emin, Antony Gormley, Martin Maloney, Cathy de Monchaux, Alison Jackson and Holly Johnson. The auction was the idea of artist Hugo Rittson-Thomas, who has been deaf since childhood and created the event to help the NDCS celebrate its diamond anniversary and raise funds to help deaf children. Beckham was unable to attend but said the charity "does a lot of fantastic work on the ground and I admire the support they provide to help these children lead a normal life".
