SNAPSHOT: Can you walk it? Yes we can

Three London mayoral candidates and Bob the Builder kick-started a 10-mile London Bridges walk last week, which is expected to raise £120,000 for the Children's Society. Conservative Steven Norris, Liberal Democrat MP Simon Hughes, and Labour's Nicky Gavron walked across the Millennium Bridge to start the eight-bridge crossing, before waving off 2,500 fundraisers, who completed the walk. The trio are flanked by the fat controller from Thomas the Tank Engine and other children's television stars including Angelina Ballerina and Tubb the Frog, as well as children who took part in the walk. Henny Saunders, event organiser, said: "Now in its sixth year, the event has been a big success. The characters brought the day alive for the thousands of families that took part." Some completed the 10-mile walk, while others opted for the gentler five-mile version.
