SNAPSHOT: Wax appeal

A man discovered what women endure on a regular basis when he got his legs waxed to raise money for this year's Children In Need appeal. So far around £13.5 million has been raised through the programme on BBC1 and hundreds of local fundraising events across the country. The amount donated is ahead of what had been pledged at the same stage last year by £600,000. Gaby Roslin and Terry Wogan presented the TV marathon on 16 November and pop star Will Young has released a record to raise further funds for the campaign.

This year the charity added a function that allowed more than 24,500 local fundraisers to download information packs from the official web site.
