SNAPSHOT: Youth talk

Lakemie Jackson, an 18-year-old from east London, runs a workshop for young people at UK Youth's annual conference last week. The organisation's national members group, a committee of 15 young people who contribute to the charity's national decision making, staged a series of activities around the theme of 'Courage Innit?'. Hundreds of young people aged between 15 and 25 attended the event at Loughborough University, which aimed to encourage young people to get involved in their local communities. "The workshops aimed to give young people information that will help prevent them from making the same mistakes as previous generations," said Alex Geddes, chair of the national members' group.
