Soul brother

Soul brother Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Rowan Williams joined young volunteers taking part in this year’s Soul in the City regeneration initiative in London. Around 20,000 young people got involved in 400 community projects across the city during the two-week event. The Archbishop lent a hand at the Peabody estate in Pimlico, where volunteers repainted stairwells, landscaped a memorial garden, planted window boxes and hosted a barbecue. Soul in the City, an annual Christian event held in conjunction with churches, police and local government, is co-ordinated by the charity Soul Survivor, which stages community projects, sport and concerts during the two weeks to improve society.
