Stakeholders to appraise Leather

The Charity Commission is seeking feedback from selected internal and external stakeholders on the performance of its chair, Dame Suzi Leather.

The people judging her were chosen by Leather herself after she received advice from leadership consultancy CPCR. The responses will be collated into a report by the consultancy and treated anonymously. Leather will then receive a two-hour coaching session with CPCR based on that feedback.

The assessment looks at various aspects of her role as well as her personal development. Geraldine Peacock, the previous chair, was subject to a similar assessment.

"It's the most sensible way to appraise the chair's performance given that we are a non-governmental body," a spokesman for the commission explained.

Chief executive Andrew Hind is scheduled to go through a similar appraisal, as is the board as a whole.
