Students keen on campaigning

Indira Das-Gupta

King's College London is organising a training day to encourage students to consider careers in campaigning.

Speakers at the event include Symon Hill of the Campaign Against Arms Trade, Elaine Londesborough of Cancer Research UK and Dr Matthew Sowemimo of the Sheila McKechnie Foundation.

The day was planned as a one-off, but demand for places has been so high that the students' union, which is organising the event, is considering repeating it.

"Over the past few years, students seem to be getting more aware of their environment, both on a national and international scale," said Alex Bone of the students' union. "They are keen to get involved in their community to develop skills that will be valued by future employers."
