Sue Ryder golden 50th campaign

Sue Ryder Care is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the opening of its first shop by asking supporters to donate gold or gold-coloured items for it to sell in July and August.

It is giving away gifts to anyone who buys the items. Each of its 370 UK stores will hold a gold anniversary party in August as a tribute to local fundraisers.

Sue Ryder Care, founded in 1953, was one of the earliest charities to run shops.

"I urge everybody to support the shops by donating unwanted items or becoming loyal customers," said actress Lynda Bellingham, the 'face' of the campaign.
