- How many fundraisers are in your team?

There are 10 fundraisers at our head office in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, and one in our West Sussex regional office, plus two part-time fundraisers in Wigan, Greater Manchester, working on our North West Appeal.

- What does the team do?

We have always been supported by amazing volunteers, many of whom have been bereaved. We recently had 125 people running for us in the Cheltenham Half Marathon. Community fundraising and events raise a third of our income and are often supported by celebrities. Most recently, Joey Essex from The Only Way Is Essex chose us to benefit from two of his TV quiz appearances.

- How much do you raise?

This year's target is £2.3m, which is up 27 per cent from last year. I think we will achieve it because the team is energetic and focused on making the most of every possible opportunity.

- What's in the pipeline?

We are hoping that our second Great British Brekkie in February will help us to reach our fundraising target. Thousands of people in schools, churches and families will tuck into a scrummy breakfast and raise money for us at the same time.

- What's it like in the office?

Bereaved families often come to meet our practitioners in the family rooms, so it feels a bit different from the average workplace. But usually it is far from sad. On Tuesdays we have a group of under-fives who race up and down, reminding us why we are working here.

Charity property: could you be entitled to a huge VAT saving?

Partner Content: Presented By Markel

When a property is being constructed, VAT is charged at the standard rate. But if you're a charity, health body, educational institution, housing association or finance house, the work may well fall into a category that justifies zero-rating - and you could make a massive saving
