Tell us what you think of our bills, Hope tells charities

Phil Hope, Minister for the Third Sector, has called on the sector to respond to the Government's draft legislative programme, which includes proposals for 18 new bills on issues such as policing, transport and community empowerment.

In a speech to the NCVO’s Sustainable Funding Projects conference, Hope said the Government would welcome feedback from charities and social enterprises as part of the consultation process on the draft legislative programme.

"Third sector groups often give voice to the people who are most marginalised," Hope said. "It’s really important that the sector represents these views in the DLP consultation.

"The proposed legislation will help to improve public services, from healthcare to education, empowering more people to take part in local democracy and engage in community activity such as preserving our heritage."
