Tesco launches fundraising website for Marie Curie

Tesco has set up a fundraising website for Marie Curie that can be accessed on mobile telephones as part of its 2008 partnership with the cancer charity.

The site, which has been built by Tesco Mobile, has a ‘one-click’ call button for visitors wanting to make a donation.

The site also features online wallpapers featuring Marie Curie ’s daffodil emblem that users can download. A total of 50p from each download is donated to the charity. The site can be accessed by texting MARIE to 83726. Texts are free for Tesco Mobile and O2 customers.

The Tesco-Marie Curie partnership has a fundraising target of £2.5m. The partnership will also be used to spread information about the work of Marie Curie nurses in local areas and information about end-of-life care.
