Entries for the Third Sector Awards, which celebrate the work of charities and the difference they make to society, have opened for 2022.

There are 29 categories this year, covering sector excellence, partnerships and talent, including awards for the Best Use of Social Media and Fundraising Team of the Year.

The 2022 awards include a scheme to spotlight the successes of small, micro, local and BAME-led charities, by offering a batch of free-entry places to charities with an annual income of less than £100,000.

Successful small and micro charity entrants will be invited to attend a free-entry workshop hosted by Third Sector, which will include practical advice and guidance on submitting a winning entry.

“Charities are some of the biggest advocates we have for making the world a better place, and in the last year they have continued to deliver vital services despite myriad challenges,” said Third Sector editor Emily Burt.

“The standard of entries in 2021 was truly impressive, and I know there will be many more achievements to recognise this year. I look forward to celebrating the sector’s successes at the awards in September.”

Adam Tulloch, chief executive of Total Insight Theatre, will chair the 2022 judging panel.

Tulloch was awarded Chief Executive of the Year for a charity with an income of less than £5m at the 2021 awards. During his time as chief executive of the arts charity, he grew Total Insight Theatre from a single drama club in Crystal Palace to a programme supporting crime prevention and mental health across London, Kent, West Yorkshire and the East Midlands.

The 2022 Third Sector Awards are sponsored by the insurance company Ansvar.

The early bird deadline for entering the awards is Thursday 19 May, and the standard deadline is Thursday 9 June. The awards ceremony will take place on Friday 30 September at The Brewery, London.
