Almost 80 entries have been shortlisted for this year’s Third Sector Excellence Awards.

Finalists include Prostate Cancer UK in the Communications Campaign category for its Sledgehammer Fund campaign and Riders for Health, which has been shortlisted for the Big Impact Award for a project that transfers patient samples in rural Africa by specialist motorcycle courier.

Individuals on the list include Sue Kay, shortlisted for Volunteer of the Year for her work with Crisis, and Elanor Hoskin of the children’s charity Chicks, who is in the running for the new award of Rising Chief Executive.

More than 400 entries were received across 18 categories for this year’s awards.

The winners will be announced at a black-tie dinner at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London on Thursday 26 September.

Stephen Cook, editor of Third Sector, said: "This year we have new categories, a different judging process, and a fresh look and feel for the awards night – the awards have evolved and are stronger than ever."
