Third Sector Podcast: Cryptocurrencies and blockchain

Rebecca and Russell are joined by Rhodri Davies from the Pears Foundation

This week, features and analysis writer Rebecca Cooney and senior reporter Russell Hargrave are joined by Rhodri Davies, philanthropy expert in residence at the Pears Foundation, to discuss charities' relationship with cryptocurrencies and blockchain.

In recent years, charities have been urged to open themselves up to the opportunities afforded by digital currencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum - but the market remains incredibly volatile, and in the past few months the Wikimedia Foundation and the WWF have stepped away from cryptocurrencies and the related technology, non-fungible tokens.

Rebecca, Russell and Rhodri chat about why many charities are treading carefully around crypto, but also look and what the opportunities might be, now and in the future.

This week's Good News Bulletin features a couple who are tying the knot after meeting while volunteering for the medical development charity Mercy Ships during the Covid-19 pandemic.
