According to a market forecast by the charity legacy consortium Legacy Foresight, published in March, legacy income fell by 11 per cent in 2020.
But that same forecast also pointed out that there may be an increase in bequests reaching charities this year, for the obvious and sad reason that we have seen more deaths than usual in the past year, with preliminary data suggesting there were 690,000 deaths in the UK in 2020.
