Three contend for People's Millions

Georgina Lock

Groundwork UK, the Coal Industry Social Welfare Organisation and the National Youth Theatre are the three charities competing for a £1.5m grant as part of this year's People's Millions contest.

The Big Lottery Fund and GMTV have teamed up to give viewers the chance to vote for their favourite project from 3 April. No date has yet been set for the winner to be announced.

As part of The People's Millions, ITV viewers will also be given the chance to award 90 grants of £50,000 in November.

The deadline for funding applications is 18 May, with each ITV region announcing a shortlist of projects in October.

Over the next three years, £66.5m in lottery funding will be awarded to community projects through the People's Millions scheme.
