Tiny charities get free NCVO entry

The NCVO has introduced free membership for voluntary bodies with incomes of less than £10,000 a year.

The offer is open to small local organisations, which will receive email briefings on current issues affecting voluntary organisations and a 30 per cent members' discount on publications, events and services.

In 2000, the umbrella body changed its constitution to allow local groups to become full members. It has since seen its membership more than double.

Ben Kernighan, director of services and development at the NCVO, said: "It is important that small organisations with few or no staff and resources are given relevant information and support."

The NCVO has also revealed that its new branding, designed by Sign Graphic Design, cost £10,000.
