Top QC to appear at sector debate

Baroness Helena Kennedy QC will be among the speakers in a debate with a third sector audience on 26 November on campaigning by charities.

The debate, organised by the NCVO with Third Sector as media partner, will examine whether charities should be permitted to devote all their resources to political campaigns.

Other speakers set to take part in the event include Greg Clark, the shadow charities minister, Brian Lamb, director of communications at the RNID, and Francesca Quint, a specialist charity barrister.

Stuart Etherington, chief executive of the NCVO, said: "We hope that this will help the sector, the Charity Commission and the Government as changes to the rules on charity campaigning are considered in the coming weeks and months."

The debate will be in a venue to be decided at the Houses of Parliament.

Those wishing to attend should email chief.executive@ncvo-vol.org.uk.
