Trade union predicts unrest
There will be a "wave of industrial unrest" among third sector employees unless rates of pay and working conditions are improved, a leading trade union has warned.
“The new competitive arrangement for contracts has led to a race to the bottom in terms of staff terms and conditions, such as no provisions for pensions and no in-service training,” said Doug Nicholls, national secretary for the voluntary sector at Unite.
He added that third sector employees were becoming frustrated at the “scale of pay cuts”.
