Training courses boost for Wales

Umbrella bodies in Wales have joined forces to launch a national training programme for people running voluntary or community groups.

The Wales Council for Voluntary Action and the country's network of county voluntary councils and volunteer centres will deliver 54 training courses at least once at each of seven locations. Courses for Communities Cymru, funded by the Welsh Assembly Government, will consist of one-day and half-day events, each costing up to £20.

Linda Pepper, chief executive of Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations, said the affordability and accessibility of the courses represented a step forward for the sector in Wales.
