UK groups working overseas receive £6m project grants

The Community Fund's international grants programme has awarded a total of £6.8 million to 15 projects of UK-based charities working abroad.

One of the biggest grants is £766,446 to Project Hope UK, which helps poor families in Mozambique to cope with the spread of HIV/Aids.

Somerset-based Action on Disability and Development, which helps Bangladesh's marginalised disabled community, has been awarded £400,000.

Since 1997 the programme has awarded 614 grants totalling £135.6 million.
