Updated CC9 will be out in New Year

The Charity Commission has delayed publication of its revised guidelines on political campaigning until February.

The updated version of CC9, which sets out the rules on political campaigning by charities, were due to be published in November.

But a spokeswoman for the commission said its focus group wanted to meet once more before releasing them. The current version of the guidelines says that political campaigning must be "incidental or ancillary to" the charity's purposes.

In September, the commission's board approved a proposal to drop that provision after the Government expressed support for allowing charities to concentrate on political campaigning (Third Sector, 26 September).
