Carers Leeds is a charity that gives support, advice and information to unpaid carers aged 16 and over. Val Hewison, CEO of Carers Leeds spoke to us about their safeguarding responsibilities.
Working with, for and on behalf of family carers across Leeds means that the charity is trusted with difficult and highly emotive issues. Safeguarding and ensuring that they are picking up on issues that may cause concern is everyone’s responsibility. In order to manage this risk, the charity has robust policies and procedures in place with an open environment that begins with recruitment and continues with constant reflection and learning for staff.
