A consultation carried out by the institute found that 79 per cent of respondents thought volunteer fundraising did not get sufficient funding. Eighty per cent felt potential in this area was underdeveloped.
The survey, which was launched earlier this year (Third Sector Online, 5 August), also indicated that fewer than half of the respondents had specific budgets for volunteer fundraising. There were about 50 responses to the consultation.
The findings will be submitted to the Department of Health's consultation, Towards a Strategy to Support Volunteering in Health and Social Care, which will act as a framework for future volunteering initiatives.
