Watch: What are charities doing for #LocalCharitiesDay?

We asked small and local charities to create videos to talk about their work and the challenges they face. Here's our top five from around the country

Many local charities say that one of the major difficulties they face is getting publicity for their cause.

#LocalCharitiesDay is designed to help in that respect, by encouraging giving to local good causes and to "celebrate small, local charities and community groups", as the government said when it launched the event in 2016.

Third Sector asked charities to talk about the work they do, what they had planned for Local Charities Day and the main challenge they faced. We've selected five charities – Wiltshire Search and Rescue, The Giving Machine, City Year UK, Create and Josie's Dragonfly Trust – to tell us more. These videos can also be seen on our YouTube channel and Facebook page.
