Watch: Child Vision targets £800k for adjustable glasses through crowdfunding

The broadcaster Chris Evans leads the campaign in new video; plus Scouts now accepting online donations

Child Vision has launched a crowdfunding page on Indiegogo to raise £800,000 to distribute 50,000 pairs of adjustable glasses to children in schools in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The charity claims 100 million children in the developing world sit in classrooms without being able to see the blackboard clearly and has called on Chris Evans to help raise the issue. The celebrity, who has worn glasses since the age of seven, has recorded a video to demonstrate the fluid-filled spectacles, which cost "about the price of a beer".

Scouts to accept online donations

The Scouts Association is now able to fundraise and accept donations online, it has announced. The youth organisation will work with Virgin Money Giving and expects the partnership will will make it easier to maximise their fundraising efforts. Drummond Cox, Leader of 26th Dundee Scout Group said: "Using Virgin Money Giving makes it much easier to share our fundraising activities online and for people to donate. The benefits of fundraising online are clear and the time we save on paperwork is now better spent on planning and participating in fun activities for the Scout group."
