Website gives charities the chance to appeal to Americans

CAFAmerica has launched a new website to make it easier for US donors to give to non-American charities.

The website gives charities the chance to establish public profiles in the US and provides a tax-effective way for American supporters to contribute to worldwide causes.

Chani Adams, development officer for global corporate philanthropy at CAFAmerica, said: “In designing the website, we thought about our daily interaction with everyone, from individual donors to multinational corporations and foreign non-profits. We are now equipped to deliver a set of truly unique online tools for overseas giving.”

The website allows charities to regularly update administrative information, news, current needs and activities and charity success stories.

It also provides access to CAFAmerica’s ‘friends of’ service. This makes it possible for charities to create a new legal entity within CAFAmerica, eliminating the need for them to set up separate organisations in the US and saving charities four-fifths of the cost of setting up in the US on their own (Third Sector, 22 February 2006).
