Monday: My week gets off to a surreal start when I make a visit to Rod Stewart's house. We have a shop opening on his local high street in Epping, so he and his wife Penny have made a donation - shoes from her and a Ralph Lauren jacket from him. I consider making first claim on Penny's Sergio Rossi heels, but unfortunately they're not my size.
Tuesday: Today was our 10th birthday garden party, a thank-you to everyone who has supported us. It was lovely to see so many of our children, families and donors there.
In a larger charity, PR and celebrity would be separate roles, but in a small organisation such as ours, many of us double up. I love this variety, but it can be tricky at an event such as this one.
Wednesday: After two days of 32 degree heat and no air conditioning, I decide to work from home. My job involves a lot of copywriting, and a few hours out of the office means that I can plough through it. I work with our photographer to choose the best shots from the party and write copy to accompany them. I increasingly use Twitter to promote our work, but local journalists still like a press release. I spend the afternoon emailing agents because I have a big fundraising event in September that requires high-profile celebrities.
Thursday: As part of our 10th birthday year, we've secured media partnerships with two local publications, providing them with at least one big story each month. One of the upcoming features will focus on Buddies - our sibling support service. I visit one of our families to write up their case study. I am always awestruck by the amazing job they do in unimaginably difficult circumstances.
Friday: Technically, I don't work on Fridays, but living and working in the same area as our celebrity supporters means I'm never totally off duty. I take my sons to an outdoor pool where they start playing with the kids of a local soap star. Soon, I'm whipping out my business card and introducing myself to their dad - it would be rude not to.
