The Big Issue's annual Big Night Out Walk will be taking place in London on 1 October. On the 25km walk, which aims to raise £100,000, 400 people will walk through the city during the night, visiting places with a history connected to homelessness.

Oxfam is to launch its rolling charity music festival Oxjam at the end of September, when four music gigs will be played in its shops. Musicians including Diana Vickers, Gabriella Cilmi and The Charlatans are among the performers confirmed for the festival so far. Oxjam, which will continue into October with gigs at 950 locations, aims to raise £500,000 to help fight poverty.

One hundred and seventy people took part in the first ever 100ft abseil in the O2 arena on 22 August to help Tesco raise more than £40,000 for the children's cancer charity Clic Sargent, the retailer's charity of the year.

Guide Dogs is organising a 'blind drive' on 21 September. Participants, guided by a helper, will drive at high speed round the Three Sisters Racetrack in Wigan wearing a blindfold. The charity hopes to raise £5,000.
