Three friends will drive 10,000 miles from London to Mongolia in a car on which they will ask people to draw pictures and write messages. They will travel through 11 countries in the 'doodle' car, setting off on 24 July. The group hopes to raise £10,000 for charities including Centrepoint and SOS Children's Villages.

The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Children's Fund, which supports the children of naval service workers, will hold a fundraising gala on HMS Victory in Portsmouth on 5 August. Tickets will be sold for £150, and proceeds will be donated to RNRMCF and Seafarers UK.

Tearfund has raised more than £25,000 from the sale of a cookbook called Recipes for Disaster. More than 4,200 copies of the book have been sold since it was first published in 2006, with a share of the proceeds being given to the charity.

Kent-based homelessness charity Porchlight is asking supporters to host fundraising picnics between 1 and 8 August. The charity hopes to raise £2,000 from about 40 picnics and will give a prize to the host who raises the most money.
