Children's hospice charity Chase will mark Children's Hospice Week, which runs from 15 to 22 May, by holding its first night walk event.The 10-mile walk in Guildford, Surrey, on 22 May will have a superhero theme, as used by some previous fundraisers: participants will be encouraged to dress up as their heroes.

Gift Aid recovery firm Gain has launched a charity discount card that will allow shoppers who save money by using discount cards at stores to donate the money saved to charity. Charities will also be able to claim Gift Aid on money donated in this way.

Scottish HIV charity Waverley Care has launched a Christmas carol-writing competition. The shortlisted carols will be performed at a concert in November, at which the winner will be announced. The charity is charging £25 for each entry.

The online dieting service tescodiets.com has launched a service called Lose Weight and Donate. Users can ask for sponsorship to reach their target weight and the funds will be donated either to a charity of their choice or to the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
