Prostate UK has launched a fundraising and awareness campaign to raise the public profile of prostate diseases.

National and regional newspaper adverts showing photographs of a man in Y-fronts have been used to encourage people to visit the Prostate UK website for more details. The charity's site includes information for fundraisers and allows supporters to make donations. John Anderson, chief executive of the charity, said the campaign aims to alert men and their families to all forms of prostate disease. The campaign has the potential to expand and will roll out in 2008 in other formats, such as direct mail, if the initial adverts are successful.

CARE International has unveiled a new Christmas catalogue. Gifts such as a bicycle for a midwife in Guatemala can be bought on its website until the end of December. Each of the gifts on offer is part of a project to help the lives of poor families and communities.

Cats Protection has launched a direct-mail campaign targeted at existing supporters. It aims to raise more money to cope with the extra pressure on resources in the winter.

Farm-Africa has launched a website selling virtual Christmas presents. Customers can send movies, e-cards and photo gift packs. The money raised by www.farmafricapresents.org.uk will go to development projects in Africa.

The Parkinson's Disease Society's Christmas direct-mail campaign aims to encourage existing supporters to make further donations. The society wants to double the number of education officers it funds.
