Justin Hansen, a patient from St Mark's Hospital, the world's first specialist bowel disease hospital, has spent the past three weeks kayaking from Manchester to London. He aims to raise £20,000 for the London-based hospital's foundation.

Girlguiding UK has launched a competition to raise money for its Centenary Fund. People who text the answer to a question on the charity's website are entered in a prize draw with the chance of winning a Honda Jazz car. All proceeds from the texts will go to the fund.

Supporters and employees of the British Association for Adoption & Fostering took three days to complete the 197-mile Cycle for Children bike ride from London to Paris on 19 September, raising £41,459 for the charity.

LandAid, a charity that uses the UK property industry's resources to help disadvantaged young people, is organising LandAid Day on 15 October. A number of leading property industry companies will take part in fundraising activities on the day, ranging from abseiling to cycling. It is hoped that the event will raise more than £100,000 for the charity.
