The Woodland Trust and the Bat Conservation Trust have joined forces to form a partnership to call for better bat care.
The partnership, supported by one of cricket's best batsmen David Gower, has been launched to raise awareness about the misunderstood flying mammals.
The awareness campaign is running in the build up to European Bat Night on 24 August, where a number of "batty
events are taking place around the country including a Saturday evening bat walk, an "interview with a bat", a "battitude
survey and quizzes at the London Wetland Centre.
The Bat Conservation Trust, which has naturalist David Bellamy as president, and the Woodland Trust say that safeguarding the creature depends on sympathetic woodland management.
