At Work: Fundraising - Our famous names

Lawrence Dallaglio supports cancer charity the Anthony Nolan Trust.

Lawrence Dallaglio has supported the Anthony Nolan Trust since 1995 and is backing the Men: What Makes You So Special? campaign, which runs from 20 to 26 November. It aims to encourage more men to register as potential bone marrow donors.

Dallaglio, former England rugby captain and captain of London Wasps, says: "The more people there are on the register, the greater the number of lives that can be saved. Leukaemia is the most common childhood cancer. I have two young girls and a son and I cannot begin to think of the anguish that parents of young leukaemia sufferers must feel."

Dallaglio holds fundraising dinners and also helps the charity organise donor recruitment sessions at a variety of rugby clubs.

A spokeswoman for the Anthony Nolan Trust says: "For a number of clinical reasons, men make the best donors. We hope Lawrence's enthusiasm and commitment to the charity will inspire other young men to come forward."
