Work, grow and develop as a challenge events coordinator

Third Sector Promotion Missing People

Third Sector Jobs spoke to Nathan Ramsden, community fundraising coordinator, about the challenge events coordinator opportunity at Missing People.

Tell us about Missing People and the work it does

Missing People exists to be a lifeline when someone disappears. We provide free advice, support services and ways to find missing people through our free, 24-hour and confidential helpline: 116 000.

What role are you currently recruiting for?

We are looking for a challenge events coordinator who will be responsible for developing fun events for supporters which raise funds, including challenge and mass participation events and third party events like marathons and cycles. You will recruit and motivate a network of fundraising supporters to raise unrestricted funds to meet income targets. Some evening and weekend work is required along with some travel across the UK.

What kind of people are you looking for?

You will need to have some challenge event experience with the confidence to hit the ground running. You also need to have good organisation skills, experience with using Raiser’s Edge or a similar database, and be motivated by working towards income targets. You will also be friendly and have a welcoming personality with a proactive approach to work.

Why would someone want to work for Missing People?

Missing People has key values at the heart of everything it does, caring about its employees, the services it provides and the people it helps. It is currently a very exciting time to be working in the community and challenge fundraising team, with new opportunities arising every day. You will always feel supported in what you do and there is always a team of people there to help you with anything you may need.

What exciting projects are you working on?

We have just held our annual Missing People 10K which you can find out about here: We currently have places in the British 10K and are accepting applications for the London Marathon 2018.

What opportunities for training and development are there?

There are always plenty of training opportunities available at Missing People to help you increase your knowledge of the organisation and expand your range of skills. In addition, there will be opportunities to attend external fundraising forums and conferences.

What tips would you offer applicants?

Be well presented and prepared with evidence of previous work you have done. Look at our website, understand our values and be curious – why are you the right fit for Missing People, and why is Missing People a right fit for you? Relax, show us your passion for joining our team and be yourself!
