Wycombe District Council reviews funding

Thirteen community support grants under threat

Wycombe District Council is reviewing its funding to 13 third sector organisations.

The charities, which receive community support grants from the authority, will learn at the end of the month whether they will be affected by the move.

Andrew Long, chief executive of local council for voluntary service the Priory Centre, said there was little prospect of the cuts, which he expected to total £50,000, being reversed.

"The cuts are inevitable in the current financial situation, but they could have been much better thought out," he said.

A council spokeswoman said: "We have to review all our costs across the board."

Recommendations would be made by the end of March, she said.
