Young artists

Twins, a painting by Eastbourne artist Mary Stubberfield, is one of more than 1,000 works of art being exhibited and sold next month to raise money for UK Youth. The Art for Youth event has raised £460,000 for the charity, which supports voluntary youth work and informal educational opportunities for young people, in the 16 years since it was established.

More than 130 artists - many of them first-time exhibitors - will have their work displayed and a prize will be awarded to the best artist aged under 30. An upper price limit of £2,000 has been placed on all the exhibits, with 35 per cent of each sale donated to UK Youth. The event opens at the Mall Galleries, London, on 9 October.
